Response to Air Canada’s TA

Hello Porter Pilots!

As you are all aware, Air Canada’s Tentative Agreement was released this week. There has been lots of discussion on the topic throughout the aviation community, and we feel it’s important to provide a few important reminders:

  • The Executive Summary is only the first look at the potential next contract for Air Canada pilots. There will be much more context and information to come in the coming days.

  • It’s important to keep our expectations tempered with regards to the results of a collectively bargained contract. Our organizers never make promises surrounding pay or QOL, as these things are out of our control. They are determined through negotiations, and prioritized based on feedback from the pilot group to the negotiating committee. We stick to the 5 Main Reasons as they are concrete and distinguishable differences between having representation in a bargaining unit and our current process.

  • After more contract language is released and roadshows happen, every Air Canada pilot will have an opportunity to express their voice through a yes or no vote. This is something Porter pilots are not currently able to do.

Our pilot group is continuing to work towards our goal of joining ALPA so that we may improve the advocacy, representation, and voice of Porter Pilots. This will allow us to collaborate with Porter management to maximize Pilot job satisfaction and Porter’s overall success.

In Solidarity,

Porter Pilots for Change
