Merger & Acquisition Protection

Porter is undergoing a massively ambitious expansion which, if not sucessful, could result in Porter being acquired by another airline or holding group. Without a collective agreement to protect us, Porter pilots would have no representation in the event of a merger, whereas every other major operator in Canada has union protection. This would likely result in us being slotted in at the bottom of the seniority list, and could result in less than ideal working conditions (think less GDOs, or a “B” pay scale). Mergers amongst pilot groups represented by ALPA follow ALPA’s Fragmentation and Merger Policy. In the event of a merger or acquisition, ALPA will ensure we are treated equally to all other pilot groups.
